Form - Body and Mind as One: Taiwan-Japan Collaborative Exhibition
By introducing the fundamental concepts from the work "Reconsidering 'Kata': From Science to Integrative Studies" by Professor Ryosuke Oba (大庭良介) of the University of Tsukuba's Faculty of Medicine, this exhibition helps the audience understand how our perception of the relationship between "body" and "mind" influences our ways of learning and living. From a Taiwanese perspective, it attempts to propose everyday examples as a response.
Continuing from the 2024 online exhibition, we collaborate again with Professor Oba in 2025 for a physical exhibition. It discusses the body-centered learning methods and life philosophy through the concept of "Kata" from Japanese traditional martial arts. Through collaboration with university clubs (Chinese Martial Arts Club, Dance Research Club), a dialogue bridge is built between Taiwanese and Japanese cultures regarding the "sense of the body."
In addition to dance and Chinese martial arts, the exhibition space features display panels with text and images, and videos, encouraging the audience to re-emphasize the wholeness of body-mind unity and to extend their thinking on how the method of "Kata" can be applied to innovation and how it influences our interpersonal relationships and worldview.
