Folk Culture Lecture Series from Across Taiwan: 'A Glimpse of Taiwanese Folk Customs'
I wonder if everyone is familiar with Taiwan's folk customs?
Modern education gives us a lot of complex knowledge, but rarely includes the principles and wisdom rooted in the land. Besides needing to catch up on Taiwanese history, we also need to catch up on Taiwanese folk customs! Otherwise, I'm afraid it might lead to many misunderstandings.
This time, we have invited Associate Professor Lin Mao-hsien (林茂賢) from the Department of Taiwanese Language and Literature at National Taichung University of Education to introduce Taiwan's folk customs, beliefs, rituals, and taboos to everyone. Do traditional folk customs that represent local culture all necessarily need to be preserved? How can we practice and pass down these memories?
Welcome everyone to come to the park, attend the lecture and learn Taiwanese!
Lecturer: Lin Mao-hsien (林茂賢)
Time: 6/20 (Sat) 14:00-16:00
Location: Classroom 207, Taiwanese Language and Creative Arts Park
