Flute Rhapsody – Interstellar Blues in Light and Shadow

[Program Introduction]

Yachuo Art Flute Ensemble (雅卓藝術長笛團) was founded in 2023, a rare and promising flute ensemble in Taiwan's flute music scene. The ensemble recruits not only professional flutists but also talented individuals who love the flute and possess performance skills and learning enthusiasm. The group is led by Director Yen Yen-hsiu (卓彥秀) and Music Director Pan Tsung-hsien (潘宗賢), aiming to enhance members' musical expression, ensemble ability, and stage experience through stable ensemble training, annual concerts, and diverse stage practices, further deepening Taiwan's flute music culture and learning atmosphere.

The performance centers on flute ensemble, combining classical, jazz, crossover, and contemporary sounds, showcasing the unique charm of a flute ensemble distinct from general chamber music or orchestras. Conductor Professor Kuo Lien-chang (郭聯昌) is invited to conduct. Professor Kuo studied in Paris, France, and has held important positions such as the Paris International Orchestra, Taipei Chinese Orchestra (臺北市立國樂團), and China Youth Corps Youth Wind Ensemble (救國團幼獅管樂團). He has long been active in promoting symphony, wind, Chinese orchestra, and contemporary music, and has served in various national-level arts evaluation and education roles, making significant contributions to Taiwan's music education and wind instrument development. This concert features selected works including Anže Rozman's "Aqua and Ventus," Raymond Guiot's "Divertimento Jazz," Holst's "Jupiter," and Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," presenting the diverse possibilities of flute ensemble from delicate timbre to grand sound, from classical vocabulary to crossover styles.
