Dance of the Soloist

The Dance of A Soloist is a documentary featured in the 2026 Taipei Film Festival, directed by Lee Li-shao. It tells the story of Li Ze-yang, a forgotten pioneer in Taiwanese music history who, after being forced to drop out of school during the White Terror, taught himself and became a key figure in the folk song collection movement of the 1960s. Through two decades of editing and translating music journals, he profoundly influenced generations of music lovers—a solitary journey finally brought to light.
