Chi Mei Museum, Tainan City [Permanent Exhibition] Art Hall

Date: 2026-01-01 — 2026-12-31 Organizer: 臺南市奇美博物館
[Permanent Exhibition] Art Hall

Western art works are presented in three major exhibition halls, including the "Art Hall," "Sculpture Avenue," and "Rodin Hall." Wandering through them offers a special experience akin to being in a foreign art museum, making it a memorable thematic area for many Taiwanese visitors. The "Art Hall" presents artworks from the 13th to the 20th century across four periods and eight exhibition rooms. Following the curatorial logic in sequence allows visitors to understand the chronological concepts of Western art development.

"Sculpture Avenue" is the only high-ceiling space in the museum designed with skylights. The sculptures display textural beauty through layers of light and shadow as the sunlight changes, making them even more captivating. This area displays works from ancient Greek and Roman times to the 20th century, aiming to construct a foundational context for appreciating Western sculpture. The "Rodin Hall" introduces the era and artistic environment of the "Father of Modern Sculpture," featuring works by Rodin himself, his teachers, peers, and students, and recreating four major sculptors' studios. Through observation and comparison, visitors can see the relationships between Rodin and his predecessors, successors, and contemporaries.
