Abode of Spirits - Sacred Topography

The eight artists invited for "Abode of Spirits" not only have Taiwanese Austronesian heritage in their identity but also consider indigeneity an important aspect of human existence in their sense of self. In dimensions such as decolonization, ecological and cross-species ontological connections, history and transitional justice, and the philosophy and cosmic spirituality of prayer techniques, they respond to the demands of urban modernity and contemporary indigeneity through forms such as spirit painting and weaving, community/tribal revisits and documentation, memory maps, cross-species interaction, and AI-generated spirituality.
If contemporary indigeneity is a global, cross-border phenomenon, then Taoyuan, as Taiwan's window to the world, is a bright spot of this phenomenon.
