65 Craft Festival: Craft Pop-up Workshop - Pottery Experience Course "Sleeping Bear's Clay Plate" (4 Sessions)

Date: 2026-06-06 — 2026-06-21 Organizer: 葉千華
In 2026, the 65 Craft Festival is officially upgraded to a national holiday. This day is not only the birthday of Yen Shui-long (顏水龍), the father of Taiwanese crafts, but also coincides with World Environment Day, allowing crafts and nature to be understood again from the same perspective. With "Slow Living SLOHAS" as the core, the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute connects craft banquets, markets, and diverse experience activities, bringing crafts into daily life to be seen and participated in.
During the 2026 "65 Craft Festival," a five-day limited-time "Craft Pop-up Hands-on Experience" is launched, inviting you to step into the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute and, beyond daily routine, try to do something different with your hands.
On-site, six professional craft masters personally lead, planning six major theme courses: metalworking, tree art, bamboo art, pottery, dyeing art, and lacquer art. Starting from understanding the materials to hands-on operation, each step can be slowly experienced and completed at your own pace.
Let's use our hands to write memories belonging to life, preserving the feelings of this moment in each unique piece.

Slowly knead out a dozing bear with your hands.
In this class, you will learn the characteristics of clay, master basic slab-forming techniques, then use tools to refine the bear's details, adjusting its posture and expression. Finally, use slip for coloring, letting the bear lie quietly on your clay plate. Each press, trim, and coloring is a trace left by your own hands, giving this bear a story that belongs to you.
The completed clay plate is not just a piece, but more like a little companion on the table, quietly accompanying you in every moment of daily life. Come experience the joy of creating stories with your hands!
