2026 Traditional Opera County Tour - Chin Hua Lung Puppet Theater (金華龍掌中劇團) "One Dragon in the Martial World" (武林風雲一條龍) (Puyen Yuanzai Nei Wu Sheng Temple)
Team Introduction:
The Wuchou Chin Hua Lung Puppet Theater was established in 1997 (the 86th year of the Republic). Our lead performer, Yang ? Tsai (楊?財), studied under Wang Ching-hsiang (王景祥), the eldest son of Wang Tien-sheng (王添晟), founder of the Wuchou system's "Wuchou Chen Cheng Yuan" (五洲真正園). Mr. Wang Tien-sheng was a direct disciple of the ancestral "national treasure" master Huang Hai-tai (黃海岱). Therefore, under the leadership of Mr. Wang Ching-hsiang, our troupe leader, Mr. Yang ? Tsai, has learned various types of theatrical forms, from the five-tone dialogue of traditional puppets (sheng, dan, jing, mo, chou) to physical performance skills, all with distinctive characteristics, such as acrobatics with knives and spears, archery, dragon and lion dances, plate spinning, shadow puppetry, and other martial arts movements. Mr. Yang ? Tsai began learning Puppet Theater at the age of ten and established his troupe at seventeen. Not coming from a Puppet Theater family, he started with no knowledge or performance foundation, relying entirely on his own dedication to learning and hard work. He has now become a well-established troupe in central Taiwan. After military service, encouraged by senior Puppet Theater figures and scholars, he participated in county and city Puppet Theater competitions and performed for cultural affairs bureaus, receiving many awards and recognition from scholars. Now, Mr. Yang ? Tsai directs and writes his own scripts, and performs with fellow disciples who studied under the same master, coordinating front and back stage, demonstrating the continuous artistic lineage and unique style of our troupe. As the saying goes, "A single mouth speaks of a thousand years of events; ten fingers manipulate a million soldiers," bringing traditional theater vividly to life.
