2026 Taipei City Teachers' Choir Annual Concert "Authentic Voices"
The Taipei City Teachers' Choir's 2026 annual concert "Authentic Voices," produced and conducted by Artistic Director Peng Meng-hsien (彭孟賢), showcases the purity and authenticity of women's chorus. The program spans from the Renaissance "Ave Maria" and the Romantic era's Vaughan Williams's "Sweet Day" to contemporary world women's choral styles. The repertoire crosses multiple countries, including Estonian Veljo Tormis's "Spring Sketches," Czech Otmar Mácha's raw power "Hoj, hura hoj!" (Mountains! Mountains!), and American Eric Whitacre's issue-conscious "The Seal Lullaby." The second half features locally warm Taiwanese poetry set to Hakka in "Old House" and Hoklo in "Sunrise Impression." "Authentic Voices" returns to the essence of sound, using genuine voices to depict the spectrum and soul of women's chorus.
