[2026 Landscape Literature Series] Walking Reading Session | Poetry Paradise on the Other Shore: The Classical Literary Brilliance of Inner Chichin - Chungchou Chapter
Due to its geographical advantages, Kaohsiung's Chichin (旗津) formed a fishing village settlement since the Ming Dynasty. With the opening of the port for trade in the late Qing Dynasty, it became a hub for countless merchants and foreign firms. While gathering merchants and immigrants from all directions, it also attracted numerous literati and scholars, leaving behind many poetic verses expressing emotions and sentiments for landscapes such as Chihou Mountain, the lighthouse, and the fort.
The Kaohsiung Literature Museum's "Kaohsiung Literary Life Landscape Walking Reading Activities" have selected Chichin District as the location for literary promotion in 2026. Writers and cultural-historical workers are invited to participate, building the literary charm within the city's spaces. Through lectures, walking readings, writing, and other forms, the activities aim to cultivate potential literary guides in each district and present related achievements within the museum and on online platforms, sharing Kaohsiung's literary landscape resources with more citizens.
