2026 Hakka Affairs Council Student Hakka Summer Camp - Following the Life of Farmers (2 Sessions)
Located in Toufen City, Miaoli County, Hebei Zhuang Farm (河背庒農園) has long held courses on food and agriculture education, winter and summer camps, Hakka culture, language certification, and Hakka cuisine in the Toufen area, helping local residents and students learn through experience, feel the warmth of Hakka culture, and thereby create an environment for using and learning the Hakka language.
Toufen City, Miaoli County, is rich in cultural and natural resources, preserving many traditional Hakka living communities. Hebei Community (河背社區) gathers agriculture and Hakka culture. Through interaction with residents and elders of Hebei Community (Shangxing Li/Xiaxing Li, Toufen City, Miaoli County), it aims to pass on Hakka culture, food and agriculture knowledge, environmental protection knowledge, and life attitudes to students, guiding them to understand Hakka in the countryside, experience Hakka, and thereby use the Hakka language, establishing a self-identity of "Hakka is life, life is Hakka."
To effectively create an immersive Hakka language atmosphere, two sessions of student summer camp will be held this summer vacation, hoping to let students experience Hakka in life through "learning by doing, doing by learning," increasing their interest in Hakka affairs and understanding of food and agriculture; further expanding to Hakka certification, the core planning course of "encouraging everyone to learn and fulfill the task of Hakka cultural inheritance," enhancing students' abilities in "listening, speaking, reading, and pinyin," and extending to every family and community, bringing Hakka speech back into daily family life.
Number of participants: 25 per session, each person limited to one session.
Target participants: Students from 2nd grade elementary to 9th grade junior high, must have basic Hakka language ability (over 30% of the course uses Hakka).
